Commander, Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), Brigadier General Dagvin Anderson and his entourage have paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen OB Akwa on Thursday, 20 February 2020 at Burma Camp.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarised himself with the CDS and strengthen the cordial relations between Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the United States, and also to gain an understanding on the security situation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In his submission, Brig Gen Anderson stated that he was looking for allies and partners to work with in solving the security situation disturbing Africa because it was a threat one nation cannot fight alone.
He added that SOCAFRICA is looking for ways they can help with the situation. He stated further that he was much concern also with the security threat in Mali and Burkina Faso.
Receiving the guest on behalf of the CDS, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Rear Admiral Seth Amoama welcomed Brig Gen Anderson and his team to the General Headquarters.
He briefed him on the general security situation on the sub-region. He added that although there was threat and unstableness in the Gulf of Guinea a lot has been achieved with respect to maritime.
He added that Ghana as a country was not isolated from the security threat in the sub-Sahara region. The two parties exchanged mementos.
In subsequent development, Brig Gen Anderson as his team proceeded to the Defence Intelligence Department of GAF where they were given detailed briefing on the actual security threat in Sub-Sahara Africa; the Gulf of Guinea and Ghana.
