The late Brig Gen David Crocket Kwadzo Kattah (Rtd) has been laid to rest at the Military Cemetery at Burma Camp after a burial service held at the Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church (GMPC), on Friday 31 January 2020 in Burma Camp, Accra.
Tribute by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) eulogized the late Brig Gen David Crocket Kwadzo Kattah (Rtd), as a man with great professional values, integrity, selfless and was loved by all. He abhorred mediocrity and would go every length to ensure that the intellectual and professional development of his subordinates.
In his sermon, Rt Rev Col William Jonfia (Rtd), shared a farewell message from the scripture Luke 16:19-27, and narrated the story of the rich man and Lazarus the poor man in the bible, of which he concluded that everybody will die someday and therefore urged all to live an exemplary life.
The late Brig Gen David Crocket Kwadzo Kattah (Rtd) was commissioned into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on 22 October 1967. After having graduated from the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) intake 9, he was first posted to 5 Infantry Battalion, Accra where he worked assiduously with little assistance. He attended all courses commensurate to his rank such as platoon Commanders, Junior and Senior Staff Courses among others. His leadership qualities, intellect and professional outlook earned him several appointments. Notable among them were; Officer Commanding, General Staff Officer Grade II, Deputy Director Army Training, Director Public Relations etc.
The late Brig Gen Kattah also served in various capacities in the United Nations such as Chief Military Observer, United Nations Preventive Deployment Force, and Deputy Force Commander with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). These were but a few of his many achievements.
The funeral service was attended by Former President JJ Rawlings, Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Lt Gen OB Akwa and Ghana Military Academy intake 9 members.
