The Engineer Training School (ETS) has officially brought the curtains down on its 2019 third quarter courses during a graduation ceremony and an end-of-year get together held at the school’s recreational grounds on Friday, 19 December 2019
A total of 142 personnel graduated from four different courses namely; Creative Arts Technology BII, Building and Construction Technology AII, Plumbing and Gas Fitting BII and Wood Construction Technology BII.
In his opening remarks, the CO of the school Lt Col Ernest Nyuur stated that the school would continue to fulfill its mandate by training personnel and artisans for the engineer corps and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) as a whole.
He noted that in order to give the students an extensive exposure to the demands and innovations of the various trades, the school’s curriculum was structured to encompass lectures, practical works, demonstrations, field exercises and educational visits to some selected companies and institutions.
He indicated that the school had the capacity to undertake numerous construction works and therefore used the occasion to appeal to High Command to award the school with such contracts.
He expressed his profound gratitude to the German Armed Forces Training Assistant Group (GAFTAG) and the United States North Dakota guards for their continuous infrastructure, equipment and training supports.
The Guest of Honour, Commandant, Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS), Maj Gen Omane Agyekum commended the Commanding Officer, instructors and other administrators of the school for achieving the courses objective despite the numerous challenges the school was faced with.
He was confident that they were well fortified with the requisite knowledge to enable them tackle the engineering works that may be confronting them on their return to their various units. The Commandant expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the various institutions and organisations for their support to the ETS.
