Commodore Steve Kweku Darbo (Rtd) has called on personnel of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) to work tirelessly to maintain the Standards of the Ghana Navy.
Commodore SK Darbo (Rtd), speaking as Guest of Honour at the Eastern Naval Command’s annual West Africa Security Services Association (WASSA) on Friday, December 13, 2019 assured the nation that the Navy would continue to carry out its patrols and other activities against myriads of maritime security threats.
According to him, the Navy was well positioned to show presence at sea based on what he described as tremendous enhancement of Operational capabilities of the Ghana Navy due to the nation’s interest in the maritime sector.
Commodore Darbo further commended the Command for the well organised and highly successful celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Ghana Navy. He advised personnel to upgrade themselves to seek for higher education and training using the appropriate procedures.
WASSA is an annual event celebrated to take stock of achievements as well as shortcomings to identify areas where they could have improved, in a bid to prepare, both physically and mentally, to accomplish goals in the coming year.
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Walker acknowledged the generous support and cooperation from some public and private companies to the Eastern Naval Command.
Awards were given to personnel who distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties.
Activities marked as part of the WASSA celebration included; health walk, health screening and cleanup exercise in around the environs of the ENC .
