The 33rd Ceremonial Guard Changing Parade has been held on Monday, 2 December, 2019 for the Ghana Air force to take over security from the Ghana Navy at the Jubilee House, Accra.
The Old Guard Commander, Naval Lieutenant Razak Al-hassan handed over to Flt Lt Emmanuel Menye Aboagye.
The purpose for the Guard Changing is to ensure maximum security at the Jubilee House and also to ensure alertness and readiness of personnel at all times.
The Presidential Guard Changing at the Jubilee House is similar to Guard Changing Ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Instituted on 5 May, 2013, it is conducted with 20 each of old and new guards from different Services/Regiments (Army, Navy & Air Force), Escort Contingent, Corps of Drums and the National /Regimental Colours, under the command of a Captain or its equivalent form the other Services.
The Guard Changing Ceremony at the Presidency is open to school children as an opportunity to acquaint school children with some of the activities of the Presidency and to inspire them to achieve greater laurels in life by applying themselves to their studies.
Present were; Deputy Defence Minister, Hon. Major Derek Oduro (Rtd), the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr James Oppong-Buonuh, Service Chiefs, Forces Sergeant Major (FSM) Chief Warrant Officer Barker Ramus, Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Mad Frema Opare, and other Senior Officers.
