The annual Land Combat Fire Power Demonstration by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), has been held at the Bundase Training Camp (BTC) on Friday 25 October 2019.
The demonstration exhibited combat skills, operational readiness and speedy reaction of GAF in regard to safeguarding the territorial integrity of Ghana as enshrined in Article 210 Clause 3 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
The purpose of the training exercise was to sharpen the tactical skills of troops in land combat to foster cohesion between all arms in times of combat as modern warfare becomes dynamic.
In his speech, the Joint Task Force Commander, Brigadier General Abraham Yeboah Nsiah stated the exercise was a fictitious scenario which depicted the battle field.
The Commanding Officer, 64 Infantry Battalion, Lt Col Fiifi Deegbe took the students of GAFCSC Senior Division Course 41 and all present through the fundamentals of the exercise. The students witnessed a display of a battle field group, command post and combat support elements. They as well had the opportunity to put to test the heavy weapons deployed by 66 Artillery Regiment and 64 Infantry Battalion.
Some of the weapons displayed were; MI6, Micro Galil, AK47, Zestava M91N, LMG Type 81, GPMG (L7A2 GPMG), RPG, 81MM Mortar, Zuu 23MM Twin Barrel, 105MM Howitzer, 122MM Howitzer and 107 Multiple Rocket Launcher.
The exercise combined Artillery, Reconnaissance, Communication, Special Forces, and Paratroopers from the Airborne Force in Tamale, the Air Force and the Navy.
The Guest of Honour for the event, National Security Advisor, Brigadier General Emmanuel Okyere (Rtd) together with the Vice Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Interior, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt Gen OB Akwa, the Service Chiefs, Commandants, Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC); the Commandant, Military Academy & Training Schools (MATS) and other Senior Officers were taken round the Operation’s Room, Bunkers, and the weaponry.
