A delegation from the family of the late Brig Gen Martin Koku Gameli Ahiaglo (Rtd) has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen OB Akwa on Tuesday 15 October 2019 at Burma camp.
The purpose for the visit was to officially inform the CDS and the entire Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) of the demise of their beloved son and father.
The leader of the delegation, Brig Gen Gbogla (Rtd), thanked the CDS for his immense support to the late Brig Gen and family during his ailment. He stated further that the presence and aid from the CDS gave comfort and hope to the family.
The family as tradition demands presented bottles of schnapps to CDS to officially invite the CDS to the funeral.
The CDS on behalf of the Military High Command and the GAF extended his deepest condolences to the family. He added that he had taken solace in the fact that, the late Brig Gen had lived a fulfilled life and had also rendered selfless sacrifices for GAF and the country in general. He stressed that the military would give the late Brig Gen Ahiaglo a very befitting burial.
The late Brig Gen Ahiaglo passed on at the 37 Military Hospital on Wednesday 9 October, 2019. The late Brig Gen was once the General Officer Commanding, Southern Command and the former Director National Lotteries (NLA), after he retired honorably from the service.
The burial service would take place on Friday 1 November 2019 at the Saint Catherine Catholic Church Burma Camp. The internment would take place at the Military Cemetery Burma Camp and thanks giving service on Sunday 3 November 2019.
