Austrian Military Dog Academy Training Centre Donates to NDA

The Austrian Military Dog Academy Training Centre has on Thursday 19 September, 2019 donated two German Shepherd dogs, some medical supplies for dogs and dog training equipment to the National Dog Academy (NDA) at Okponglo in Accra.

A Veterinary Officer from the Austrian Armed Forces, Colonel Mag Petra Teresa Hufnagel in presenting the items, stated that as part of the long bilateral military relations between both countries, the Austrian Government has recognized the need to support NDA, hence the donation.

In addition, four dog experts from Austria would be sent to NDA twice every year to assist the academy. “We can’t support this Academy with money but rather bring in our expertise, medical supplies and equipment to support the National Dog Academy”, she explained.

She noted that the Austrian government has a special programme for the students to train in Austria for three months as dog handlers and veterinary officers.

The Provost Marshal of the Ghana Military Police (GMP), Colonel Errigton Kojo Commey in receiving the items expressed his profound gratitude to the Austrian Armed Forces for its immense support to the training Academy.

He hoped that the training programme would go a long way to better the skills of his personnel and help to achieve the vision of the Academy.
