The 49 Engineer Regiment has held its quarterly thanksgiving and religious parade on Sunday, 25 August 2019 at the Aggrey Hall in Burma Camp.
Delivering his sermon under theme: “Drawing closer to God your Maker”, the preacher, Rev Fr Flying Officer Ernest Tackie-Yarboi encouraged the troops to continue to put God first in their everyday activities.
“You need to remember God in your day to day activities in order to get closer to God”, he said.
He stressed on the need for the troops to have faith in God and advised them to turn away from any misconduct and follow their Maker.
On his part, the Imam, Maj Najmu-deen Agbese Mohammed, touched on some few principles in life that could make one get closer to God. According to him, being a faithful and obedient servant were some of the things that aids one to get closer to God. He added that one should have patience and perseverance in other to be successful in life.
He then advised troops to always stand for the truth in other to earn Gods protection. “Be truthful and stand for the truth so that you earn God’s divine protection. If it is white, say it is white and if it is black, say it is black.” He said.
In his remarks, the Commanding Officer (CO), 49 Engineer Regiment, Lt Col Emmanuel Asia, was thankful to God for making third quarter of the year a successful one. He said the Regiment had been successful in the past months in all fields.
He encouraged the troops to spend more time with their spouses and children and more importantly get them closer to God. He then admonished the troops to be dedicated and hardworking in their fields as Engineers.
Lt Col Asia took advantage of the religious parade to congratulate his Second-In-Command, Maj Carl Sabah who had been promoted to the rank of Lt Colonel and appointed as the Deputy Director, Quantity Survey in the Ghana Armed Forces.
