Group Captain David Anetey Akrong has taken over as the new Base Commander at the Air Force Base Tamale on Thursday August 22, 2019 in Tamale.
He took over from Group Captain Reginald Cole after 18 months as Base Commander and now heading outside the country for a military course.
An all Ranks durbar was organised at the base new hangar in line with military custom to bid Group Captain Cole farewell.
During the durbar, Group Captain Cole expressed his satisfaction at the general level of discipline among officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian employees of the base during his term as base commander and urged them to continue to extend the same level of discipline and support to the new base commander.
He urged that the various human resources at the base be catered for and also other directives from the General Officer Commanding in the garrison be taken into consideration as the daily routine operational readiness unfolds.
Brigadier General Moses Aryee, General Officer Commanding, Northern Command in his remarks expressed satisfaction with the enormous efforts exhibited during the short period he worked with Group Capt Cole as a Base Commander.
He stated that the relationship that had been established should continue to exist as the command welcomes a new Base Commander.
As he advised the new base commander to stand firm in all situations, he also entreated the personnel at the base to work assiduously with the new base commander, so that together, they can achieve success.
