The African Endeavor team has met with the Director, Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Lt Col Elikem Fiamavle on Friday 21 August 2019 at the Command Mess, Burma Camp.
The aim was to deliberate on the overview of the cyber security initiatives being untaken by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), to protect its information infrastructure and serve as a national back up in times of disaster and cyber-attacks.
Lt Col Elikem Fiamavle, in his presentation on the current state of cyber security crimes mentioned how poised GAF was, in fighting cyber security crimes.
He highlighted on some challenges the country has been encountering such as Cyber-crimes, cyber terrorist exploitation, Continuous fiber cable cut, rogue machines on network and the use of plated software among others.
He further mentioned that there was the need for GAF to establish the state of the art Data Centre with policies put in place to secure the Network infrastructure and computer system against growing and evolving cyber threats and also to serve as a national back up.
Lt Col Fiamavle gave a future projection of GAF plans to counter Cyber security Crimes with a Short, Medium and Long term strategies by building the capacity of personnel and resources of the Cyber security data center.
